EDPX 3701 Digi Fab – Week 2 (Plottin’ Patterns)

This Sunday was my first experience with a plotter, which was error free!

Go me.

When I used the plotter I found that all of the plots that I had hand drawn felt more complex as I was creating them as opposed to when I was actually plotting them. I was really inspired by the first set of polts that we were asked to do and focused on what was primarily textile design.

So, then I started to experiment with overlaying the plotted images with different colors to see what effect it would give.

Using this process I could see where pausing the machine would be beneficial in the process.

In the end, I learned that the plotter is beneficial for more complex vector designs because it provides permission.

Overall, I understand the process and feel like I understand the plotter’s potential now that I have utilized the machine. I would like to design a layered design and experiment with the plotter and use it as a screen printer that would overlay colors and shapes.
